Montaña de Oro

Another beautiful day on the central coast of California. What better way to spend it than walking through a small forest to a beach? A few days previously there had been high winds, so there were a number of tiny shells on the ground. I spent a great deal of my time searching through them to see what I could find.

As you emerge from the trees, you are greeted by the view of this valley with the ocean beyond. Idyllic comes to mind!
Greg squishes down to fit into this picture of a rock.
The dunes here were gorgeous as they were covered in plants.
Holy cow, I let someone else use my camera long enough to take a picture of me! Don't worry, I won't let it happen again.
Along the beach there was a large rock outcropping that had obvious levels to it. I thought the texture of it was really interesting, so I took a picture of it. Looking at it now, I can almost make out a monster's face in it. Raaarrrr. (This by the way is why I shouldn't make webpages late at night.)
This is the rock formation mentioned above! You can also see all the weird purple dead things in the foreground that got washed up with the winds. I think the're called sailfish, and are related to the jellyfish.
More rocks, but this one had a tidepool next to it.
Kristin, Greg, and my brother, Mike wait patiently for the shutterbug to finish what she's doing and get going already.
The moon is getting an early start today!
Did I mention I thought the dunes were really pretty?
A starfish! We found this guy in one of the many tidepools.
This is a sign that says cable landing. We did not see any cable docking while we were there, but if it did, I'm sure this is where it would go.
Another more abstract shot, I liked the pattern in the rock and the green color caused by the water. And it kinda looks like alien elephant skin.
One last picture of the pretty dunes before we leave!
