Appenzell, Switzerland

Ahhh, Switzerland. I could have stayed in Switzerland the entire trip. Talk about relaxing! Unfortunately, everything in Appenzell was closed on Sunday, which.. was the day we were there. We had a rough time finding a room, but finally found one. Since everything was closed, we didn't stay very long. Most of these pictures are actually of the surrounding scenery, not the town itself.

A river runs through it! Through the town, anyway. Unfortunately, it was really overcast while we were here, so it was hard to capture the beauty of it. The river was very pretty, especially with the alps and the fields nearby.

What's Switzerland without a cow! We really started to see a number of these when we got into Switzerland. It's not all just cliches and stereotypes!

This is the back area of town, near the railroad bridge. As usual, quaint, and peaceful. I really wish we'd come on a day when things were OPEN.

This is the downtown area. As you can imagine, we didn't have to worry about many cars. One of the neat things is when we pulled into town Saturday evening, the church bells began to ring. People came flooding out of shops and homes to attend church.

This was actually on the way out of town. Talk about idyllic! You can just see the train on the hills going by. You could also hear cowbells as you drove along the roads. How can you see this and NOT relax.

Getting near Interlaken area, it really started to clear up. All this beautiful water and beautiful countryside. Can I please stay?
