Linderhof Palace

Linderhof is a short drive away from Hohenschwangau and Neuschwanstein. Located on a huge estate, it's a beautiful place. Another of King Ludwig II's estates, it is just as impressive as the other two locations, and includes a manmade cave. Inside the cave/grotto was a lake, and a setup for underground operas. It was probably one of the neatest extravagant uses for money I've seen in a while.

A view of the pool and grounds in front of the palace. There were enough things around with gilted gold on them to really drive home the point of wealth. I wouldn't have wanted to swim in that water, though. It was rather green.

A view of the front of the palace. Many statues and facade work keep the architecture interesting. All those poles are for the crowds to linel up in for the tours.

A view of the pool in front of the palace itself with the large grounds and mountains in the background. Truly a grand vista. While much smaller than the castles, Linderhof seems a tad more classy.

A statue in a gazebo found on the grounds near the palace. There's even some gilted goldwork here.

Scott and Mischa standing on the balcony near the pool with the Alps in the background.
