Munich, Germany

On day 2, we drove to Munich. We got lost. A lot.. We finally found our way to a pension and got a room. We walked around the old bits of town and finished our day out by realizing that Mexican food in Germany is probably a bad idea. We had planned to stay two nights, but ended up only staying one as the whole city thing just didn't set well with us.

The glockenspiel! Every big German town needs one! If you ever need to find tourists, just head to the nearest glockenspiel. It was .. interesting I suppose, and I'm glad I've seen one, but I'm sure glad they don't charge admission.

You can sort of see the crowds in the shadows watching. There were a LOT of people that came to see this.

An old looking building near the center of town. We walked around quite a lot and ended up in a huge park. It was called the Englisch Gardens but was probably larger than Central park. We made our way to the center where there were oompah bands playing and many places selling beer and sausage. Definitely Germany! It was great!

Even though the buildings are old, there were a ton of cranes on the horizon. This was near the Residenz. Near here was a dirt and grass courtyard with many people playing what appeared to be lawn bowling or bocci. We sat and watched for a while, although we were never quite sure what they were playing.

This was inside the Residenz. The walls were lined with portraits of the past kings of Bovaria. The best part of the Residenz was the treasury, full of jewels, statues, and beautifully crafted objects. There was a violin that was crafted out of an old hard wood that was beautiful.
