Tokyo, Japan
Akihabara

Akihabara was an entire area devoted to electronics and computers. It felt like Comdex held outside and on a much bigger scale. All the signs were garish and competing for our attention. There were even women dressed up hawking different stores. It was pretty darn cool!

My friend Steve told me beforehand I had to go to Akihabara and see the "Human Habi-Trail". We saw it just as we left the station. The tube like things are where the escalators go up to each floor. To get back down, you take a central elevator. Each floor had different things. Bottom floor was major appliances. The next floor was cell phones, followed by computers, followed by TVs and audio equipment, on up. This was just one store! I think they must have had everything.
This gives you an idea of all the signs. AND all the people. The place was extremely crowded. There were many areas on street level that were like electronic farmer's markets. Lots of vendors selling different electronic wares. Definitely worth seeing!
