Little Bear Creek

This was a 5 mile hike, although we didn't quite go to the end. We did it in late afternoon and descended into a dark forest, so I couldn't take pictures of the actual creek. It was quite pretty with the yellow trees and the snow on the ground. You climb down for 500' and then have to climb up at the end, backwards of most hikes.

After climbing down a ways, just before the creek, there is a small meadow that you come to. When we arrived, the sun was near the horizon and almost everything was in shadow. After the meadow we reached a valley where no light got to.

Here's the meadow backlit against the sun. At this point, the sun was close to setting but hadn't quite gotten around to it yet. It was however, quite cold!

Here is the lit side of the meadow again. It hadn't snowed for 2 days, but there was still snow on the ground because the sun never hit some areas of the trail.

Here, part of the trail is still under snow. Most of the trail was cleared off, but there were a few places that were completely covered.

This area was completely in shadow. I didn't have my tripod with me (dumb) so I took this picture with a flash. The creek is actually in the background, but it's too dark to see it.

This is on the way back up, the distant mountains were being lit by the setting sun, but the side of the mountain we were on was completely blanketed in shadow.
