Oso Flaco

This was a short hike, maybe 2.5 miles total. It's mostly flat, the hardest part is the few times you have to walk in the sand. For most of the hike, you walk along a boardwalk. This trail takes you over lake Oso Flaco and then leads you to the beach. Scott, Mike, Kristin, Mischa and I did this hike late in the afternoon so everything had a golden cast to it. Quite beautiful!

This is the boardwalk that most of the hike is on. There are a couple of places where the boardwalk has been covered with sand or is just not there. This is Mischa yelling at Kristin and Mike (who were constantly ahead of us) that we were taking a photo. That being the one below..

The photo op that Mischa was yelling about in the previous picture... You could hear dirt bikes in the distance and this trail probably led closer to them. We didn't take it as the ocean was very close at this point.

After reaching the beach we walked to the creek that led from Oso Flaco river to the ocean. It wasn't very far from the beach and was quite picturesque.

The stream ran between a number of dunes before reaching the ocean.

More pictures of the stream. A number of people were out enjoying the stroll along the water edge. I believe those are my brother's footprints.

This dune had a number of dying plants at the top that looked like a horse or lion mane. It was a nice contrast against the blue sky.

One last look at the creek in front of the dunes before we headed back.
